




Coconut palms and fields line the road from Bangalore to Sravanbelegola, a major center of Jain pilgrimage, 158 km away.
Tourists and pilgrims climb 600+ steps (without footwear!) to the 17 meter high monolithic statue of the Jain saint Bahubali/Gomateswara on top of a rocky hill.
Some prefer the easy way.....by a palanquin!
I must confess I would have preferred the easy way..by a palanquin.
